Leading by Design, Not by Default

In the fast-paced world of technology and corporate leadership, we are often conditioned to lead with data, KPIs, and market trends. While these metrics are vital, many executives find themselves in a quiet crisis, "doing" the work but losing the human "being." It’s time to stop leaving your values at the door and start leading with your whole self.

The Connection Experiment in the Boardroom

Leadership is, at its core, about relationships. I often discuss the "Connection Experiment" in the context of family—maintaining deep bonds despite distance. This same principle applies to your professional ecosystem. When you lead from a place of faith-led values, you aren’t just managing employees; you are connecting with people.

The business case for this is clear. According to a 2022 study by Gartner, employees who experience "human-centric" leadership are more than three times more likely to remain with their organization. However, you cannot be a human-centric leader if you aren’t a centered human.

Making the Presence Pivot

Sustainable leadership requires what I call the Presence Pivot. This is the intentional shift away from a performance-based identity toward a purpose-based identity. When the pressure to perform threatens to erode your integrity, you pivot back to your "True North"—your core principles.

This shift transforms your professional life in three key ways:

  • From transactional networking to relational stewardship.

  • From reacting to market panic to responding from values.

  • From leaving your "self" at the door to bringing your "soul" to the table.

Lead Your Legacy

Your legacy won't be a slide deck or a Q4 growth chart. It will be the integrity you brought to the table and the way you made people feel. If you’re ready to realign your leadership style with what actually matters, I invite you to download my latest resource.
